Quick Story

I remember when I was a high school senior nearing graduation. I was feeling a combination of anxiety, excitement, and confusion. I had no clear vision of what I wanted to do with my life. I never gave a thought to a career path. I knew nothing about colleges other than their sports teams. I didn’t know what it meant to declare a major – or what a major was. I had no idea what colleges cost. My wonderful family had no money saved for college – we were paycheck to paycheck. But, we were a very happy family of 4 boys, a dad with a steady job selling life insurance, and a mom who worked hard to maintain a wonderful home and show us all the power of love.

My father talked to some of his clients who knew something about the process of finding and applying to colleges.

started Campus Pathway to help helping families challenged with finding, selecting and affording the best college education possible for their children.

The paractice involves a parallel process with students separately from the parents. with the students, we are looking at assessments of their interests, values, skills and personality to get clues on their careers and majors. That leads to finding great colleges. We begin working with the students in their high school years, preparing, researching and selecting colleges that are a good match for their personality, skills, values and aptitude.

With the parents, we provide guidance for managing the costs of college, and as a financial advisor we help parents understand savings strategies, financial instruments, cash flows, loans, financial aid, grants and scholarships.

Sooner is better than later! We start with students as early as 9th grade, though it is more common to start working with the families in the sophomore, junior and senior years of high school. Since financial issues are so closely related to the time available, getting going early is very smart.

The Campus Pathway team stays with the families throughout the years leading up to, and including, the college experience. Then, at the discretion of the family, we stay involved to ensure the very best outcomes leading up to and including the years in retirement.
